Doug and Lori Pearson from Greentree Church were interviewed about how their church participates.
How did you get involved with the Christmas Gift Bag project? It started as a group project at our fellowship. We moved "the operation" to our garage and then ended up taking it over ourselves, working it around our schedules.
You basically oversee the entire project yourselves - and you are already busy with a number of other ministry areas, so what motivates you for this particular project? As we have it down "to a science" by now, it's a relatively easy task for us to do. We don't look at it as another thing "to do." On the contrary, we look at it as another blessing that we get to be a part of. We have also included our children in this so it is a way of showing them how to serve too.
Lori, after being involved in the project for so many years, you eventually went on a short term trip to ASELSI and actually had the opportunity to meet families that this project has helped. How did that impact you? It definitely makes it more personal. To know that the bags we prepare and send out will go to a people that I have personally met touches my heart and gives me great satisfaction. Especially since I know the great need they have there and what a blessing this will be to them.
