One week can make a big difference in the people here and in your team too. Working alongside Guatemalans, team members connect with local families, meet local pastors, and serve with ASELSI’s staff.

Tim

I’m Tim. Coming here, we were put to work building sidewalks, ramps and chicken coops. Here with ASELSI we’re building with the Guatemalans as a team. Building together in the rain, I thought it’s not what we built, but what God built. Giving the folks here at ASELSI the resources and help, I felt that God humbled me, not what I built, but what He built through us. I’m just one tool that Jesus is using here at ASELSI. It’s only a little bit, but it’s what we can do.

Ron

My name is Ron, with the City Harvest Team. I’ve had a great time for a week serving this community and serving the children here in ASELSI. It’s been a wonderful experience with my team members. We have grown so much in the Lord this week. I just can’t believe the places we’ve been and the things we’ve been touched by. The children’s ministry, the Little Lambs, is such a loving experience, to be with them and do some crafts with them, pray with them. Going to the hospital was incredible. The people there, with the pain they’re in and praying with them, and just seeing their hearts open up with us. I can’t say any thing more about how precious that was for us and how much I’ve grown in the Lord through this process. I would invite anybody who is considering coming to Chichicastenango and to ASELSI to consider it. It was a wonderful opportunity—one of the best in my lifetime. Thank you so much ASELSI!

Miriam

Hola!  Me llamo Miriam.  I am here with City Harvest Church.  This is my first time to ASELSI in Chichicastenango.  This week I have gone many places and just experienced the culture which has been so amazing.  I have done home visits; we visited a lady named Lucia and prayed with her.  We have gone to a school—King of Kings ministry, and that was really cool, getting to hang out with the kids.  My favorite part of the week was getting to work on Micaela and Tomas’ house and bless them.  I just love the staff here at ASELSI, and if you are thinking about coming, I would highly recommend it!

Clarie

Claire

My name is Claire. I’m an occupational therapist. I had the pleasure of observing, consulting with and learning from the Physical therapist on staff, a PT student and the rehab aides on staff in order to enhance their current practice. I’ve enjoyed getting to know them, share the love of Christ alongside of them and teach them a little bit mor about the sensory needs of the children they treat. In addition, I gave a presentation on sensory processing and sensory strategies to the teachers in the Little Lambs Center so that they were more confident in how to engage their students in their studies. It has been such an honor and pleasure to get to know the staff at ASELSI and to call them brothers and sisters, in Christ. I hope that you deeply consider joining them in their service to the people of Guatemala. It has been such an amazing experience for me and I know it will be for you as well.

Logan

Hi, I’m Dr. Logan with Missouri Eye Consultants (MEC). We’re down here at ASELSI in Guatemala on a mission trip to provide eye care to those in need. We are very grateful to the Kindsight program that MEC provides to bring lots of eye care to those in need, including surgeries. This is my third time down here and we are so grateful for the opportunity to serve others. We love being a part of ASESLI and serving the community.
