They come to learn. They come to grow. They come to go.

These 94 Guatemalans young and old have a desire to be part of the answer to the needs around them both spiritually and physically.

Through a partnership between ASELSI and Adventures in Missions, ASELSI is hosting a 6-month training program for Guatemalans who want to be missionaries.

One Saturday each month, these students are taking classes focused on knowing God, listening to Him, and reaching out to others right where they are. The classes are followed with practice time when the students load up and head into town to walk the streets, visit the police station, pray, and talk with people about Christ.

We are excited about this group of local people who have a desire to learn, grow, and go see what God wants to do around them.

After the missions training there are additional opportunities for these students to go either to Cuba or Nicaragua in November or December to again put their learning into practice.

Please pray for this generation of “goers” who are preparing to answer the Great Commission and ASELSI’s opportunity to train missionaries to go beyond Latin America and into the Middle East and Asia. The six training sessions with are being held on the final Saturday of each month through October at ASELSI’s main campus.

A team of five eye care professionals came to help patients here in Chichicastenango from the University of Incarnate Word (UIW), San Antonio, Texas.

They spent four days caring for more than 100 patients who needed different levels of eye care here and in the town of San Lucas.

By partnering with the ASELSI clinic, this team was able to bring immediate help for those who just needed a pair of basic glasses, and refer those who needed something more extensive to the follow-up care that is available through the ongoing eye program at ASELSI that provides eye care up to cataract surgeries right here in Chichicastenango.

The team of eye doctors and students is part of an ongoing relationship that ASELSI has with Dr. Russell Coates from UIW as well as doctors at the Columbia Eye Consultants Optometry based in Columbia, Missouri. Over the years, these doctors have cared for thousands of patients and trained our Guatemalan staff who take basic eye exams out into the villages where they help bring sight to the people.

Thank you CECO team for you heart and care for the people of Guatemala!

A team of 13 from World Outreach Church joined ASELSI for a week of sharing the love of Christ.

Their visit included home visits where they sat down with local families and learned about life here in Chichicastenango and prayed with the families as they gave them a basket of food items to help with their daily needs.

The team also prayed for patients at the national hospital about 30 minutes down the road where patients receive care in a medical system that doesn’t always have the resources to give them what they need.

The team held a medical clinic at churches where ASELSI is partnering to reach the communities of Chuabaj and Chicua I through the establishment of a local outreach with the church there. This is part of the ongoing vision ASELSI has to equip churches to reach out in and beyond their own communities.

With the team working together with a Guatemalan crew they worked on a construction projects in the village and at ASELSI.

Thank you World Outreach Church team for your heart for the people of Guatemala!

A ministry called Water Mission is helping provide pure water to thirsty families across the globe.
In southern Mexico, Water Mission leaders realized that water is not enough. These communities need leaders with a clear understanding of God's Word to bring about lasting change. They need solid Biblical training along with the water projects.
That's where ASELSI got involved. Using the ASELSI courses that have been developed over the past 20 years ASELSI is helping this ministry to train leaders who put God's Word into action to transform their lives, families and communities.
Classes recently opened in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico with 34 students who are involved in the water projects and are now building a strong foundation in the Word of God.This is one more example of how God is partnering ASELSI with other ministries to equip, empower, and enable the church for action.
Pray for these Mexican believers who are learning and growing and for the ASELSI teachers who travel more than eight hours to San Cristobal de Las Casas to teach the courses each month.

Continued expansion of ASELSI's Bible Training is possible through the generous support of people like you. Consider becoming a monthly partner with an scheduled donation to help us continue equipping, empowering and activating the Church.  Donate Here.

See the story of a man whose leg was healed after 20 years of having to use an insert to level his legs because of an accident. Look what the Lord has done!
