ASELSI is making purposeful changes to our immediate plans in light of the COVID-19 outbreak and the financial implications that come along with this. Here's an update to keep you up-to-date and let you know how you can help.

Thanks to the support of generous givers at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 ASELSI was able to provide a full salary for all of the full-time employees in March and April even during the COVID-19 restrictions that forced us to work from home. THANK YOU!

However, due the economic downturn (unless God does something supernatural) we made a plan to reduce costs for the next 12 to 18 months. We imagine there will be fewer short-term mission teams this year, and those teams normally make a significant contribution to ASELSI when they come.

We met with the ASELSI leadership this week, and asked them to pray and consider a voluntary 25 % reduction of pay starting in May. We also are considering changing the contracts for some of the full-time workers to Technical Services (part-time). These financial changes will enable us to continue serving the people in our clinic and Bible Institute. We want to be proactive and prepare for a time where we need to limit in different ways in order to continue providing and ministering to the people in need.

At the same time we hope to do our best to help the immediate needs which arise over the next few months due to COVID-19.

Hunger is going to be a big need in our area, that’s why we would like for you to consider:

  1.  Continue praying and interceding for Guatemala and ASELSI. We know we are not the only ones going through a difficult time. We recognize God is Sovereign and during these times of distress, His name will be glorified.
  2. Please consider continue giving as you can. Monthly donors are a key for the ministry to continue.
  3. If you were planning to come to Guatemala on a short-term Mission trip and you may no longer be able to come, would you consider donating or even fundraising for ASELSI
  4. If you would like to give to help out with the immediate needs because of the challenges because of COVID-19 please consider give to the ASELSI RELIEF FUND.
