With four challenging speakers focused on the areas of youth and children’s ministries those who attended received current information on how to continue reaching the new generation with the Christ.
“Everything was very focused on the church--on the importance of the church to be relevant to the next generation,” ASELSI Director Emanuel Perez said of the conference. “We are very excited because we see that God continues allowing us to equip the people to empower them to enable them…to share with the church in Guatemala.”
The Relevant Conference is part of ASELSI’s efforts to equip leaders with the understanding, tools and encouragement they need to transform lives with the Word of God. The annual conference is held on October 20 each year.
In 2010 Hector and Hilda Piedrasanta found an open door to take the Gospel to Cuba.
Hilda who is from Cuba and Hector had married in his home country of Guatemala, but now they felt God was calling them to the island for a specific purpose.
“The Lord called me to go back to Cuba and start a church,” Hector said.
Together they started serving in an established church while they looked for ways to reach out and start a church where there was a great need.
“We walked around looking for the place,” Hector recalled. “We asked God that it would be a place where they really needed the Lord and where the Word of God hadn’t been preached much.”
Hector and Hilda had a calling and heart for the people, but there were many challenges to face.
